Eight-weekly course

Starting each season, we offer pottery courses for mixed level students. In one morning/evening per week, you will get lots of demonstrations and personal tailored instructions on wheel throwing, trimming, attaching handles and glaze application, taught by the potters Madeleine Vink and Bernita Kootstra.

About the course

The courses are open level, where instructions will be personal tailored to the level of each student. The courses are both suitable for novice potters, and those more experienced and ready to learn advanced techniques (such as throwing larger pots, closed shapes, and perfect series). The course on Monday evening is taught by Madeleine. Other courses are taught by Bernita, however, Madeleine will usually be present as well.

All courses include clay preparation, trimming, and glaze application. The standard-courses include 20kg of clay, which usually proves to be more than enough for beginners.

The price of the course is €365,-  per person (incl. VAT and materials)

what we offer

The content of the course

General info

Each course starts with a warm welcome of coffee and tea. Parking is available in front of the atelier.

Access to clay and materials

All use of materials are included and there will be a sufficient amount of clay: 20kg. From our experience, this is more than enough for most students. If needed, we offer extra clay for €9,95 per 10kg.

Choose your own glaze

You will be taught how to glaze your own works. We offer a variety of colours and you are free to create any artpiece you would like.

Personalised instructions

The intimate setting allows for the instructors to provide lots and lots of personalised instructions and feedback. You are free to experiment and apply your own creative ideas.

Open-level courses

Novice students will practice the basics of pottery. Such as clay handling, wheelthrowing and trimming. More experienced students may want to practice throwing larger pots and series. Each student is free to ask for instructions on specific shapes. We do not teach making plates, as they take up too much space in our ovens.

The advanced course

This new course is meant specifically for students who are competent in the basics of pottery. They do not need help in centering small amounts of clay and know how to throw basic small shapes. In this course you will learn to throw (very) large pots with the proper techniques, and difficult shapes, such as teapots and closed shapes.
